How can we help?

Short answers to the questions that come up most often. BuddyWith is an iPhone app, and everything below refers to the current release.

Getting started

Open BuddyWith and add your first person. A given name is all that is required, so you can capture someone in seconds and fill in the rest later. Everything is saved on your iPhone as you go.

Adding or importing people

Add a person by hand, or choose someone from your iPhone contacts and let BuddyWith fill in the details it recognises. You stay in control of what is brought across, and importing never changes your contacts.

Notes

Notes hold whatever you want to remember about a person, in your own words. Pin a note to keep it at the top. Note content is private: it is never included in reminders, diagnostics or usage information.

Dates and reminders

Add birthdays, anniversaries and other dates, with or without a year when the year is unknown. Add a reminder to a date and BuddyWith notifies you in advance. Reminders need notification permission, which BuddyWith asks for only when you first set one — you can change it later in iOS Settings → Notifications → BuddyWith.

Groups

Groups gather people by how they fit into your life, such as family, work or your child's class. Filter the People list by group, combine groups with search, and use batch editing to add or remove several people at once.

BuddyWith Pro and restoring purchases

BuddyWith is free for up to 30 people. BuddyWith Pro removes that limit and unlocks groups and batch editing, and is sold either as a one-time lifetime purchase or as a monthly subscription. Prices are shown by the App Store in your own currency.

Already bought it, or set up a new iPhone? Open Settings in BuddyWith and choose Restore Purchases. Subscriptions are managed by Apple: Settings in BuddyWith opens Apple's own Manage Subscription screen when there is a subscription to manage.

Privacy and your data

BuddyWith is local-first. Your people, notes and dates are stored on your iPhone and synchronise only through your own private iCloud account. There is no BuddyWith account and no BuddyWith server holding your data. Optional usage information is off until you turn it on and can be turned off again in Settings at any time. See thePrivacy Policy for more.
